wikipedia
Domaradz is a village located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, within the Brzozów County, serving as the administrative seat of the gmina (municipality) of the same name. The history of the settlement dates back to medieval times when it was part of the Sanok Land, situated along the border route between Poland and Ruthenia. In 1359, Domaradz was established under German law, and its episcopal origins are linked to the grants given by Queen Mary of Hungary to the Bishop of Przemyśl. Although the founding document from 1359 is considered by some scholars to be a forgery, the village soon gained significance, becoming part of the diocese and having its own parish from the very beginning. In the 16th century, Domaradz came under the care of the bishops of Przemyśl, and the following centuries brought tragic events, such as destruction during Tatar invasions and plundering by Hungarian troops. Juliusz Kallay, a notable figure in Polish history, was born in Domaradz. Architecturally, the village is best known for its historic wooden church dedicated to St. Nicholas, built around 1485. It is one of the oldest wooden churches in Poland, distinguished by rich details such as a Baroque altar from 1632, a Gothic bell from 1524, and numerous historically documented renovations and transformations, including a major reconstruction in 1878. Domaradz lies on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, highlighting its importance to local culture and architecture. The village also has an active sports life—since 1999, the football club Sokół Domaradz has been operating here, currently competing in the B class. Situated picturesquely in the Dynowskie Foothills, with a rich history, cultural attractions, and architectural heritage, Domaradz is an important point in the region, attracting both tourists and enthusiasts of local history.
