Fabryczna was the largest self-governing administrative district of Wrocław, established on February 12, 1952, and located in the western and southwestern parts of the city. In 1990, its functions were taken over by the City Hall in the newly established municipality of Wrocław, although the name Fabryczna is still used in statistical and administrative contexts. The district covers an area of 118.9 km², and according to data from the Central Statistical Office (GUS) from 2019, it was home to 207,698 people. The name Fabryczna refers to the industrial character of this part of the city, where large manufacturing plants were located. Architecturally, Fabryczna is characterized by typical communist-era buildings as well as modern housing estates developed in recent years. Among the notable neighborhoods in this district, many bear names derived from former villages that were incorporated into Wrocław. From a historical perspective, Fabryczna has a rich industrial heritage that significantly influenced the economic development of the region. Interestingly, still-operating companies and administrative institutions, such as healthcare centers (ZOZ), tax offices, and police stations, continue to use the name Fabryczna, highlighting its importance in the context of local administration. Additionally, residents of Fabryczna can enjoy various cultural attractions that have begun to develop in this part of Wrocław in recent years.
