wikipedia
The municipality of Grabów, located in the Łódź Voivodeship within the Łęczyca County, is an urban-rural municipality with its seat in the town of Grabów. The municipality boasts a rich history dating back to the times of the Kingdom of Poland, when it belonged to the Łęczyca County. From 1975 to 1998, the municipality was part of the Konin Voivodeship. An added value of the municipality is its traditions associated with the game of palant (a traditional Polish bat-and-ball game), which date back to the 15th–16th centuries. The annual Palant Festival, held on the Tuesday after Easter, attracts not only local residents but also tourists. The celebrations include a mass, a procession, and the induction of new members into the Palant Club, accompanied by artistic performances and a banquet. The historical monuments of the municipality are unique tourist attractions; one of them is the medieval Besiekiery Castle, which captures the attention of history enthusiasts. The municipality also takes pride in two Mariavite churches: the Church of St. Matthew and St. Roch from 1907 in Nowa Sobótka and the Church of the Most Holy Sacrament from 1928 in Kadzidłowa. Additionally, there are 19th-century Evangelical cemeteries within the municipality, remnants of earlier settlements. Although these cemeteries are legally protected, most of them are in poor technical condition. The municipality covers an area of 154.96 km², with agricultural land dominating (91%) and forests covering 7%. According to 2014 data, the municipality was inhabited by 6,135 people. Religiously, the municipality is diverse, with the Roman Catholic Church being dominant and a Mariavite minority that maintains two parishes. The municipality also collaborates with numerous units of the Volunteer Fire Department, reflecting the local community's engagement in safety issues. Neighboring municipalities, such as Chodów, Daszyna, and Łęczyca, form a regional cooperation network, which may contribute to further economic and cultural development of the area. Thanks to its cultural heritage, rich history, and community activity, the municipality of Grabów is a place with significant tourism potential and is certainly worth a visit.
