wikipedia
The Iławskie Lake District Landscape Park, established in 1993, is located on the border of the Warmian-Masurian and Pomeranian voivodeships. It encompasses an area of exceptional natural value, including Lake Jeziorak—the longest lake in Poland. The park features a young post-glacial landscape with diverse landforms such as frontal moraine hills and outwash plains. Within its boundaries, there are 43 lakes with a total surface area of 6,003 hectares, making the lake coverage of the park 27%. The area is inhabited by approximately 1,340 people, and the park is divided between the Warmian-Masurian and Pomeranian voivodeships. Lake Jeziorak and its forested surroundings form ecosystems that support numerous bird and animal species, including rare predators such as white-tailed eagles and ospreys. The park includes three existing nature reserves: Czerwica, Gaudy Lake, and Jasne, as well as planned reserves like Buczyna na Łaniochu and Witoszewskie Grądy. A total of 58 natural monuments have been recorded within the park, including the impressive "Gruba Sosna" (Thick Pine) and Napoleon's Avenue, highlighting the area's natural significance. The park's flora consists of various forest types, as well as rare plants such as the daphne (Daphne mezereum) and martagon lily. Its fauna includes red deer, roe deer, wild boars, and rare birds like black storks and lesser spotted eagles. The Iławskie Lake District Landscape Park is not only an important nature conservation area but also a region rich in biodiversity, attracting nature enthusiasts and tourists eager to experience Poland's unique landscape.
