wikipedia
The Kashubian Landscape Park, established in 1983, covers an area of 33,202 hectares and is located in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, in the central part of the Kashubian Lake District. Its main objective is to protect the young glacial landscape, diverse terrain, and rich flora and fauna, which are the result of Pleistocene geomorphological processes. The park spans eight municipalities, including Kartuzy and Chmielno, and its buffer zone covers an additional 32,494 hectares. The park's climate is characterized by high variability, with an average July temperature of 16°C and annual precipitation of about 660 mm. The park is home to numerous lakes, the largest of which is Lower Raduńskie Lake (737.2 hectares). The flora of the park is exceptionally diverse, comprising 190 protected plant taxa, including 43 fully protected species. Here, one can find beech forests and pine forests. The region also stands out for its unique mountain plant species. Among the birds, 135 species have been recorded, including endangered species such as mergansers, teals, and cranes. The park also features many interesting forms of protection, such as 12 nature reserves and 42 natural monuments, as well as Natura 2000 areas, which cover about 40% of its territory. A notable feature is the presence of numerous peat bogs and specific wetland ecosystems. The park is a place rich in biodiversity and natural landscapes, making it highly attractive to both tourists and scientists.
