wikipedia
The Kodeńska Plain is a physiographic mesoregion located in eastern Poland, in the northeastern part of Western Polesie, between Sławatycze and Terespol, west of the Bug River. This region is characterized by a sandy outwash plain, formed from sands and gravels originating from the Middle Polish glaciation. The landscape is dominated by numerous islands of flat moraine hills and gravel outliers, which stand out against the denuded surface of moraine clays. The mesoregion holds cultural significance, with the main locality being Kodeń, known for its beautiful church architecture and the traditions of local communities. Kodeń is famous for the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Kodeń, a pilgrimage site whose architecture attracts tourists and the faithful. The second important locality is Sławatycze, which also has a rich history, having once been a trading town. The area features a picturesque Bug River landscape, conducive to tourism and recreation, and the Bug River adds charm to the region. Interestingly, both towns are situated in areas with a rich history, associated with the activities of various ethnic groups and historical events, which influences their current character and cultural richness. Thus, the Kodeńska Plain is an important element of the region's cultural and natural identity.
