The Koronowo Municipality, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in the northwestern part of the Bydgoszcz County, has a tourist-agricultural character and is the largest municipality in the county. The seat of the municipality is the town of Koronowo. From 1975 to 1998, the municipality belonged to the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2010, the municipality was inhabited by 23,716 people. Within the municipality lies the monument to the Battle of Koronowo, fought on October 10, 1410, during the great war between the Poles and the Teutonic Order, which ended in a Polish victory. The municipality covers an area of 411.7 km², with 56% being agricultural land and 31% forest land. Unique natural areas are protected here, including the Bagno Głusza Reserve, which is a breeding ground for rare bird species, and the Różanna Dęby Reserve, protecting an old stand of pedunculate oak. The municipality is home to many historical monuments, such as the railway bridge in Buszkowo from 1909, the Holy Trinity Church in Byszewo from 1663, and the manor complexes in Huta and Gościeradz. In Koronowo, one can also visit the Cistercian monastery church from the end of the 14th century and the synagogue from 1858. The municipality is traversed by many beautiful tourist trails, perfect for hiking and cycling trips. The region offers not only numerous natural attractions but also an interesting contribution to local culture and history, with a rich tradition dating back to the Middle Ages, making it a place of unique charm and educational value.
