Łagów is a rural commune located in the Lubusz Voivodeship, within the Świebodzin County, with its administrative seat in Łagów. Historically, between 1975 and 1998, the commune was part of the Zielona Góra Voivodeship. According to data from June 30, 2004, the population of the commune was 5,125 inhabitants. The area is home to significant nature reserves, such as Mechowisko Kosobudki, which protects a transitional peat bog with unique flora and fauna, as well as Nad Jeziorem Trześniowskim and Pawski Ług, which also focus on the conservation of peatland and forest ecosystems. The commune covers an area of 199.19 km², of which 32% is agricultural land and 59% is forested. It occupies 21.25% of the area of Świebodzin County. Łagów and its surroundings offer rich natural resources, which, combined with the local architecture typical of the region, provide interesting points on the tourist map. The commune includes several villages, such as Gronów, Kosobudz, Sieniawa, as well as smaller settlements like Brzezinki and Zamek. It borders the communes of Bytnica, Lubrza, Skąpe, Sulęcin, and Torzym.
