Legnica County, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, was established on January 1, 1999, as a result of the administrative reform. Its capital is Legnica, which functions as a city with county rights. The county comprises urban municipalities (Chojnów), urban-rural municipalities (Prochowice), and rural municipalities. The county is characterized by diverse architecture, including numerous historical monuments such as the Basilica of St. Hedwig in Legnickie Pole, Prochowice Castle, the palace complex in Warmątowice, and the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Ulesie. The region boasts a rich cultural heritage, including museums commemorating important historical events, such as the Museum of the Battle of Kaczawa and the Museum of the Battle of Legnica.
