wikipedia
Lidzbark County, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform and has its capital in Lidzbark Warmiński. The county includes urban, urban-rural, and rural municipalities, with notable towns such as Orneta and Kiwity. According to data, the population of the county in 2019 was 41,180, which decreased to 41,039 in 2020. The history of the county dates back to 1818, when the area of East Prussia was divided into counties, and Lidzbark Warmiński gained the status of the county seat after it was moved from Dobra Wieś between 1865 and 1896. It is worth noting that between 1975 and 1998, Lidzbark County did not exist. In the pre-war period, the population of the county grew, reaching 24,800 inhabitants in 1900 and 39,000 before World War II. After the war, the population dropped to 26,700, with the demographic peak occurring in the 1970s, when the population reached 48,400. Architecturally, the region is characterized by a rich heritage, including castles and historic churches, which bear witness to its history and culture. Lidzbark Warmiński itself is known for the well-preserved castle of the Warmian bishops, which is an important tourist attraction. Culturally, the county boasts local events, festivals, and traditions that bring the community together. An interesting fact is that Lidzbark County has always been a meeting point of various cultures and nations, which influences its current character. It borders five other counties, making it an attractive destination to visit, given its location in the picturesque region of Warmia and Masuria.
