The Mirsk Municipality, located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, in the Lwówek Śląski County, is an urban-rural municipality with its seat in the town of Mirsk. From 1975 to 1998, it was part of the Jelenia Góra Voivodeship. The municipality covers an area of 186.57 km², of which 37% is agricultural land and 55% is forested, accounting for 26.28% of the entire county's area. The municipality's landscape is rich in forests, which promotes tourism and outdoor recreation. According to demographic data, the population was 9,122 in 2004, which decreased to 8,496 by 2020. Mirsk borders the municipalities of Gryfów Śląski, Leśna, Lubomierz, Stara Kamienica, Szklarska Poręba, and Świeradów-Zdrój, as well as the Czech Republic to the south. Mirsk has a rich cultural and historical heritage. Among the settlements within the municipality are villages such as Brzeziniec, Giebułtów, Gierczyn, and Kłopotnica. The region's architecture is characterized by traditional pastel-colored houses and historic buildings, many of which reflect the area's German history and industrialization.
