The Regional Tourist and Sightseeing Badge "Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills", established in 1998 by the Strzelin Branch of the Polish Tourist and Sightseeing Society (PTTK), promotes hiking, cycling, and exploring the towns within the mesoregion of the Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills. Covering an area of approximately 1,140 km², this region is part of the Sudeten Foreland and is characterized by low hills and broad depressions that create a unique landscape. The mesoregion includes the Bielawskie, Gilowskie, Krzyżowe, and Łagiewnickie Hills, among others, as well as the Henryków Basin and the Ziębice and Nysa Plateaus. The boundaries of the Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills are defined by the Kącka and Grodkowska Plains to the north and east, and the Otmuchów Depression to the south.
Geologically, the area is diverse, featuring parts of the Sudetic Foreland block, including metamorphic formations such as gneisses and amphibolites, as well as granite bodies and basalt veins. Parts of the region are covered by sedimentary rocks from the Miocene and Pleistocene epochs. The area boasts a rich historical and cultural heritage, which can be explored through hiking, making it an attractive destination for nature, history, and culture enthusiasts. These hills hide many interesting features, including numerous hiking trails and diverse architectural sites that reflect the region's rich history. Exploring the Niemczańsko-Strzelińskie Hills offers an excellent opportunity to discover local culture, as well as unique flora and fauna, making this area a valuable destination for exploration and active recreation.
