Północ is a district of Szczecin, located in the northern part of the city, comprising seven auxiliary units – housing estates. In 2016, it had 56,404 registered residents. As part of the historical development of Szczecin, the district was named "Nad Odrą" (On the Oder) between 1954 and 1975. Its current administrative form was established in 1990, highlighting the dynamic development of the area and changes in local governance. Północ borders the Zachód (West) and Śródmieście (City Center) districts, and to the north, it neighbors the Police municipality. To the east, the district adjoins Lake Dąbie, which enriches the recreational opportunities for residents. The Oder River, flowing through the district, was once an important transport and trade route, playing a key role in the region's development. Architecturally, Północ features diverse buildings, including older historical structures and modern residential estates. The estates of Bukowo, Golęcino-Gocław, Niebuszewo, Skolwin, Stołczyn, Warszewo, and Żelechowa form an architectural mosaic reflecting various styles and eras. The district boasts numerous green spaces, parks, and cultural venues, fostering community integration. The history of Północ is closely tied to the transformations of the Oder riverside areas, with local legends and traditions shaping its identity.
