Ostrołęka County, located in the northeastern part of the Masovian Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Ostrów Mazowiecka, which during the Second Polish Republic was part of the Białystok Voivodeship. According to the 1921 census, the county was inhabited by 94,457 people, and its ethnic structure reflected diversity: 88.3% were Poles, 11.1% were Jews, and smaller groups of other nationalities, such as Germans and Russians. Modern data, for example as of December 31, 2019, indicate a decline in the population to 72,328, which may be the result of various demographic and social factors. The history of the region is also rich in diverse religious traditions, with 82.8% of residents professing Roman Catholicism, as well as the presence of Judaism and other faiths. Over the years, Ostrów County has established cooperation with the city of Zasław and the Zasław district, indicating a desire for integration with other communities. The county includes municipalities, both urban and rural, such as Ostrów Mazowiecka and Brok. An interesting aspect is the region's architectural heritage, which reflects its rich history and cultural mosaic. It is also worth noting the developing cultural and social life, which continues to shape the identity of the inhabitants and their connection to the past. Contemporary demographic trends and cooperation with other regions may shape the future of the county, but the cultural, historical, and religious foundations will remain in the memory of the local community.
