wikipedia
The Rewal Commune, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship, is the smallest rural municipality by the sea in Poland, with its administrative seat in the town of Rewal. The commune covers an area of 40.65 km² and is home to 3,871 residents. It consists of seven village districts: Niechorze, Pobierowo, Pogorzelica, Pustkowo, Rewal, Śliwin, and Trzęsacz, most of which are tourism-oriented—a trend that began with the dynamic development spurred by the opening of the narrow-gauge railway in 1896. Architecturally, the commune boasts numerous heritage sites, including the 1866 lighthouse in Niechorze and the ruins of a 14th/15th-century church in Trzęsacz, both major tourist attractions. Cultural life thrives here thanks to institutions such as local libraries, a cinema in Pobierowo, and the Museum of Sea Fishing in Niechorze. A variety of cultural events are organized throughout the year, and several associations actively promote local initiatives. Rewal is renowned for its beautiful beaches, dunes, and coastal climate, making it a highly attractive destination for tourists. An interesting fact: during the second round of the 2010 presidential elections, the commune recorded the highest voter turnout in Poland, at 90.03%. Additionally, the area is part of the Natura 2000 network, highlighting its natural and ecological value.
