The Sokółka Hills, also known as the Dąbrowa-Sokółka Hills and the Grodno Upland, are a mesoregion of physical geography located on the border between Poland and Belarus, stretching between the valleys of the Biebrza, Neman, and Świsłocz rivers. They are characterized by a diverse glacial landscape, with distinct hills, kames, and eskers formed during the Warta glaciation over 130,000 years ago, composed of rock material brought by the glacier from northern regions. In Poland, the area of the Sokółka Hills covers approximately 1,300 km²; the highest peak is Góra Wojnowska, reaching 239.5 meters above sea level. The western part of the region features moraine ridges, which are the subject of intensive research and mineral extraction. The Sokółka Hills are a region of rich biodiversity, with about 40% of the area covered by agricultural land and pine, oak, and other forests. In Belarus, they cover an area of 1,400 km², with the highest point reaching 247 meters above sea level, featuring picturesque hills that attract tourists. The river valleys host a variety of plant species, and the region is frequently visited for tourism, being a popular destination for weekend getaways.
