The county was established in 1867 from part of Kalisz County, and its current administrative form was restored in 1999 as a result of the administrative reform. The main transport routes are the A2 motorway and national roads 72 and 83. In 2019, the county had a population of 83,894, which decreased slightly to 83,818 in 2020. The county consists of 1 urban municipality (Turek), 2 urban-rural municipalities (Dobra, Tuliszków), and 6 rural municipalities (Brudzew, Kawęczyn, Malanów, Przykona, Turek, Władysławów). In terms of tourism, hiking and cycling trails dominate, offering opportunities to explore the region’s nature and history.
