Wyszków County

Wyszków County, located in the northeastern part of the Masovian Voivodeship, was reestablished in 1999 as a result of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Wyszków, which is dynamically developing as a local cultural and administrative center. Inhabited by over 74,000 people, the county stands out for its natural wealth, including the valleys of the Bug, Narew, and Liwiec rivers, as well as the forests of the Puszcza Biała and Puszcza Kamieniecka. Architecturally, the county boasts numerous monuments of high cultural value. Among the oldest are the parish church in Wyszków from 1793 and the Vasa Obelisk from 1655. In Barcice, there is a wooden church from 1758, listed as a historical monument, with a bell tower from 1768. Other significant sites include an 18th-century palace in Dębinki and an 18th-century manor complex in Głuchy, associated with the figure of Cyprian Kamil Norwid, an outstanding Polish poet. The county also features a palace complex in Kręgi and churches that beautifully blend into the regional landscape, including 19th-century temples in Niegów and Popowo Kościelne. Historically, Wyszków County has a complex past. It was first established in 1956 as part of the Warsaw Voivodeship, and its administrative structure changed over the years. After 1975, the county was incorporated into the Ostrołęka Voivodeship, and in 1991, the urban-rural municipality of Wyszków was created. Finally, in 1999, the county was restored, and its borders were expanded to include the Zabrodzie municipality. In a cultural context, the area is known for its local traditions, festivals, and numerous artistic events. Its natural assets and historical heritage attract tourists and history enthusiasts. In Długosiodło, there grows a pedunculate oak named "Jan," which is approximately 600 years old, serving as a natural curiosity of the region.
