wikipedia
Zwoleń County, located in the Masovian Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Zwoleń, and the county includes urban-rural municipalities and rural municipalities such as Kazanów, Policzna, Przyłęk, and Tczów. According to 2020 data, the county was inhabited by 36,026 people. The history of the county dates back to 1954 when it was established in the Kielce Voivodeship as one of the first counties after the introduction of gromadas (village clusters) as the basic administrative units in the Polish People's Republic. Initially, Zwoleń County consisted of the town of Zwoleń and 22 gromadas, which were separated from two neighboring counties. Over the years, the county underwent numerous administrative changes, including the abolition of gromadas and their transformation into municipalities. In 1973, Zwoleń County was divided into 5 municipalities, and after the 1999 reform, it regained its former borders and administrative structures. The modern county boasts a rich cultural heritage, with numerous architectural monuments such as churches and public buildings that testify to its history. Interestingly, part of the original Zwoleń County now belongs to other counties, reflecting the evolving nature of territorial administration in Poland. Neighboring counties include Lipsko, Radom, Kozienice, as well as counties in the Lublin Voivodeship. Zwoleń County serves as an interesting example of changing administrative structures while highlighting significant elements of the region's history and culture.
