Śremski County, located in the central part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, was established in 1999. Its administrative seat is the town of Śrem, and the county consists of the urban-rural municipalities of Dolsk, Książ Wielkopolski, and the rural municipality of Brodnica. The county covers an area of 574.7 km², and in 2020, it had a population of 61,455 people. The area of the county is geographically diverse, spanning three distinct geographical regions: the Warsaw-Berlin Ice Marginal Valley, the Greater Poland Lakeland, and the Leszno Lakeland. The county's economy is stable, with a very low unemployment rate of just 1.6%. Śremski County is developing through cooperation within the Economic Union of the Śrem Region Towns, which aims to integrate efforts and create new job opportunities. The region operates two main development programs: the Economic Development Strategy and the Tourism Development Strategy, which support entrepreneurship and tourism growth. The natural environment is also noteworthy: the area is rich in lakes, such as Grzymisławskie Lake and Dolskie Wielkie Lake, as well as numerous hiking and cycling trails. The county's terrain is an excellent destination for active recreation, offering fishing, water sports, and the chance to sample local products. Among its interesting features is the largest concentration of glacial erratics recognized as natural monuments, as well as various forms of environmental protection, including parks and nature reserves. Rich in natural resources and historical sites, Śremski County is becoming increasingly attractive to tourists and investors, offering numerous opportunities for both residents and visitors.
