wikipedia
The Garwolin Deanery, established in 1603, was initially part of the Warsaw Archdeaconry in the Poznań Diocese, and its boundaries from 1867 onward corresponded to the Garwolin County. After the dissolution of the Podlasie Diocese, the deanery was incorporated into the Lublin Diocese. In 1918, following Poland's regained independence, the deanery acquired new borders and parishes, and in the same year, the Osieck Deanery was established, which was merged into it in 1921. Over the years, both during the Second Polish Republic and the Third Republic of Poland, new parishes were established within the deanery, reflecting its dynamic development. Currently, the deanery comprises 11 parishes, including the main parish of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Garwolin, which serves as the seat of the deanery, as well as others such as the Holy Trinity Parish in Borowie and the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Parysów. The number of faithful in the deanery is approximately 46,055, underscoring its importance in the religious life of the region. Neighboring deaneries include Łaskarzew, Osieck, Siennica, and Żelechów. The Garwolin Deanery is a significant entity within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Siedlce, and its history and local culture are deeply intertwined with regional traditions. In addition to its religious aspects, the deanery boasts architectural diversity, featuring many historic churches that attract both the faithful and tourists, making it a valuable part of the cultural heritage.
