Jeleśnia Commune is located in the Silesian Voivodeship, within Żywiec County, and is the largest rural commune in this voivodeship. The commune covers an area of 170.51 km², of which 35% is agricultural land and 54% is forested. The commune consists of nine villages, including Jeleśnia, which is the administrative seat, as well as Korbielów, Krzyżowa, and Sopotnia Wielka. According to data from June 30, 2004, the commune had 13,488 inhabitants, but by December 31, 2017, this number had decreased to 13,353. The commune is home to numerous educational institutions, including School Complexes in Jeleśnia and kindergartens that provide education for children. Additionally, there is a Communal Public Library with branches in several villages, highlighting the importance of culture and education in the life of the local community.
