wikipedia
Lubaczów is a city located in southeastern Poland, in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship, serving as the seat of Lubaczów County. It received its royal town rights in 1376, and its history dates back to at least 1214. The city is an important transportation hub near the border with Ukraine, with well-developed infrastructure, including a railway station and a network of regional roads leading to several Polish-Ukrainian border crossings. Lubaczów lies on the picturesque Tarnogród Plateau, in the valleys of the Sołotwa and Lubaczówka rivers, creating an attractive natural environment. The city features diverse architecture, including historic sites such as the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, the 19th-century town hall, and the railway station with its water tower. On the hill where a medieval stronghold once stood, remnants of a castle and fortifications from the 16th–17th centuries can be observed. Lubaczów boasts rich cultural resources, including the Kresy Museum and the Municipal Cultural Center, which host numerous events and exhibitions. The city is also a hub for sports activities, with various sports clubs and a sports hall. Historically, Lubaczów has undergone many transformations, from the partitions of Poland through World War II, including tragic events involving Jewish and Polish communities during the occupation. In 1945, the city temporarily became the seat of the Archbishops of Lviv. An interesting fact is that Lubaczów is a partner city with municipalities in Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, Slovakia, and Romania, highlighting its international character and traditions of cooperation. With a population of 11,670 in 2021, the city is a socio-economic center in the region, with developed educational and cultural infrastructure, making it an important point on the map of Poland.
