Mokotów Deanery

The Mokotów Deanery is one of the 25 deaneries of the Archdiocese of Warsaw and encompasses nine parishes of significant architectural, cultural, and historical importance. Among them is the Parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church, located in Ksawerów, whose modernist architecture draws attention. The parishes of St. Casimir and St. Stephen the King, situated in Sielec, are excellent examples of traditional sacred designs, blending neo-Gothic elements with the local context. It is also worth noting the Parish of St. Maximilian Maria Kolbe on Służewiec, whose contemporary architecture harmoniously integrates with its surroundings. Old Mokotów is home to as many as three parishes: St. Andrew Bobola, St. Michael the Archangel, and St. Stephen. Each is characterized by a unique architectural style, and their histories often date back to the early 20th century, when the development of this part of Warsaw flourished. The Parish of Our Lady of the Angels in Wierzbno and the Parish of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Savior in Wyględów also hold their place in the rich history of Mokotów, with diverse architectural styles that reflect the social and cultural changes of past centuries. As one of the most recognizable districts of Warsaw, Mokotów not only captivates with its architecture but is also a venue for numerous cultural and pastoral events held within the parish community. Parishes organize various meetings, retreats, concerts, and events for children and youth, making them important centers of social life. Interestingly, some of the parishes, such as the Parish of St. Casimir, bear the name of one of the patron saints of Poland, and their activities often draw on traditions associated with Polish identity and Catholic values. There is no shortage of local charitable initiatives and collaborations with various organizations, aligning with the broader context of Catholic love for one's neighbor. Thus, the Mokotów Deanery, as part of the Warsaw metropolis, boasts a rich historical and cultural mosaic that continues to evolve, blending tradition with modernity. This contributes to its unique character and significance in both regional and national contexts.
