Rzeszów Fara Deanery

The Rzeszów Fara Deanery, established on September 21, 2004, by Bishop Kazimierz Górny, is part of the Rzeszów diocese and encompasses eight parishes and one rectorate. Its creation aimed to reorganize the administrative structure following the dissolution of the former deaneries of Rzeszów I and Rzeszów II. The first dean was Father Tadeusz Wyskiel. Architecturally, the deanery showcases a diversity of sacred buildings that reflect both various architectural styles and the history of Rzeszów. Among the parishes within the deanery is the Parish of St. Adalbert and St. Stanislaus, one of the oldest in the region with a history dating back to the Middle Ages, as well as modern churches, such as the one dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. The Parish of the Blessed Sacrament stands out for its Neo-Gothic style, while the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the Bernardine Fathers' Monastery captivates with its Baroque interior. From a cultural perspective, the deanery is a hub for numerous religious and cultural events that attract the faithful from across the region. Each parish has its own traditions, such as nativity plays, processions, or parish fairs, which are integral to the life of local communities. The parishes are also involved in charitable activities, supporting those in need. Historically, due to its location in Rzeszów, the deanery carries a rich tradition shaped by events such as the turmoil of World War II and the subsequent rebuilding of churches after wartime destruction. Many parishes continue to cherish old traditions, adding to their unique character. An interesting fact is that some of the sacred buildings in the deanery are registered as historical monuments, attracting not only the faithful but also tourists. Rzeszów Fara also hosts unique events, such as the Christmas tree lighting in the market square, which brings together local residents, as well as artistic performances held within church walls. The deanery cannot be fully understood without considering the life of the community it serves—it is not only a place of worship but also an important landmark on Rzeszów's cultural map, contributing to the preservation of local traditions and values.
