The Parish of St. Michael the Archangel in Dwernik, belonging to the Przemyśl Archdiocese in the Lutowiska Deanery, boasts a rich history dating back to at least 1533, when the first mention of Dwernik appeared. In 1979, a former church from Lutowiska was relocated to the village and adapted to serve as a parish church. The parish is associated with the figures of its pastors, including Fr. Jan Kaplita, Fr. Zenon Bieszczad, Fr. Tadeusz Rząsa, and the current pastor, Fr. Marek Bacior, whose activities have significantly influenced the spiritual and social development of the parish. The parish was officially established on August 30, 1981, by Bishop Ignacy Tokarczuk, and the church was consecrated under the patronage of St. Michael the Archangel and the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Angels. The parish comprises approximately 458 faithful from several localities, including Dwernik, Zatwarnica, and Chmiel. As part of its pastoral activities, the parish maintains subsidiary churches, such as St. Nicholas in Chmiel and the Good Shepherd in Zatwarnica, which play a vital role in the religious life of the local community. The history of the parish is a testament to the rich cultural and spiritual traditions of the region, as well as the blending of elements of local sacred architecture. The parish exemplifies how small communities can preserve their heritage by nurturing traditions and values that form the foundation of local identity.
