Stronie Śląskie is an urban-rural municipality located in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, within Kłodzko County. It borders the Czech Republic and the municipalities of Bystrzyca Kłodzka and Lądek-Zdrój. The municipality includes the town of Stronie Śląskie and 14 villages, such as Bielice, Kletno, and Sienna. The local government consists of a 15-member Municipal Council and a mayor, with their headquarters situated in the Palace of Marianna Orańska. Since 1990, the mayors of Stronie Śląskie have been Janusz Lignarski, Zbigniew Łopusiewicz, and currently, Dariusz Chromiec. The municipality also serves as a constituency for electing representatives to the Sejm, Senate, and European Parliament.
Stronie Śląskie is renowned for its numerous tourist attractions, including the Bear Cave and the "Violetta" Crystal Glass Factory. The region attracts tourists with ski slopes such as "Czarna Góra" and its proximity to other mountain areas. Public transportation has been introduced in the municipality, facilitating travel. In terms of nature conservation, the area protects several reserves, such as the Bear Cave and the Puszcza Śnieżnej Białki, and stands out with ecological sites like Biała Marianna.
The region is rich in forested areas, which cover 77% of the land, and agricultural land, accounting for 23%. Its extensive forest density supports diverse flora and fauna. Other interesting sites in the municipality include the mineral museum in Stronie Śląskie and the old uranium adit near Kletno, which attract history and nature enthusiasts. Notably, the municipality lies on the border of the Golden Mountains and the Bialskie Mountains, largely within the Śnieżnik Landscape Park, making it an ideal destination for mountain and ecological tourism.
