wikipedia
Szczebrzeszyński Landscape Park, located in Western Roztocze and partly in the Biłgoraj Plain and the Zamość Basin, is an area conveniently situated on the border of Roztocze and the Solska Wilderness. It forms part of a protected landscape covering an area of 19,370.90 hectares, following a reduction of the park's original area in 2017. The park adjoins the Roztocze National Park and lies mainly in the eastern part of Western Roztocze, in the valley of the Gorajec River, which is the highest part of this region, characterized by diverse terrain. The park is rich in natural attractions, including a dense network of loess gullies, such as those in the "Piekiełko" nature reserve, and peat bogs dominated by fertile Carpathian beech forest and fir forest. Within the park, around 80 species of birds can be observed, making it an attractive destination for ornithologists and nature enthusiasts. The highest point of the park, reaching 344 meters above sea level, is called Dąbrowa. The only town within the park's boundaries is Szczebrzeszyn, which has deep roots in the history and culture of the region. In the southern part of the park lies the Tałandy Marsh, the source of the Gorajec River, which flows all the way to its mouth at the Por River. The raised bog in the Tałandy Marsh is overgrown with dwarf pine and downy birch, adding to its natural value. The region also features notable sites such as the loess gully in Topólcza and the picturesque Gorajec River in Gorajec-Stara Wieś, which attract tourists. An interesting aspect is the diversity of fauna and flora, as well as the fact that the park serves as a recreational area, appreciated by both local residents and visitors, creating a unique blend of natural assets with the cultural and historical needs of the region.
