The Góry Słonne Landscape Park, established in 1992, is located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, encompassing the municipalities of Lesko, Olszanica, Sanok, Tyrawa Wołoska, and Ustrzyki Dolne, as well as the towns of Sanok and Ustrzyki Dolne. Covering an area of 56,188 hectares, with its boundaries expanding over the years, it stands as one of the most significant nature conservation areas in the region. The park features the mountain ranges of the Góry Słonne and Chwaniów, crisscrossed by numerous hiking trails that attract tourists with diverse interests. The park's flora is rich and natural, with approximately 900 species of vascular plants, dominated by forests, including natural Carpathian beech forests, which play a vital role in the local ecosystem. Over 73% of the park's area is covered by forests, many sections of which are protected within nature reserves. There are nine nature reserves within the park, the largest of which are "Chwaniów," "Nad Trzciańcem," and "Na Oratyku," safeguarding valuable forest ecosystems. Interestingly, all reserves, except for "Cisami w Serednicy," are forest-focused, highlighting the importance of woodlands in regional biodiversity. The Góry Słonne Landscape Park, with its stunning natural scenery, also forms an essential part of the region's cultural and historical heritage, serving as a place where history, nature, and culture coexist in harmony.
