Brodnica County, located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, was established in 1999. Its administrative seat is the town of Brodnica. The county ranks 8th in terms of area and 7th in terms of population in the region. Demographics show a steady increase in the number of inhabitants, reaching 79,097 people in 2019. Brodnica and its surroundings are home to many important architectural monuments. Among the most valuable are the Church of St. Catherine, the ruins of the Teutonic Castle, the Chełmno Gate, the Masurian Tower, and the Palace of Anna Vasa. In Jabłonowo Pomorskie, it is worth noting the Narzymski Palace, designed by F.A. Stüler, as well as the 17th-century arcaded cottage in Szczuka and the Church of St. Martin in Grążawy. The county is characterized by a diverse landscape, with the Chełmno and Brodnica Lake Districts in the north and the Dobrzyń Lake District in the south.
