wikipedia
The Nida Valley is a picturesque geographical region located in the southern part of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship in Poland, forming part of the Nida Basin. This area stretches approximately 65 km in length and ranges from 2 to 6 km in width, with its distinctive features including three narrow constrictions situated between the villages of Sobowice and Kopernia, Młodzawy and Krzyżanowice, and Brzeźno and Sobków. The valley floor is characterized by wetlands and is covered with alluvial soils, as well as peat deposits that are remnants of old river channels. Rising sandy terraces, reaching heights of 12–15 meters above the floodplain, add a unique charm to the landscape. The region is rich in meadows and pastures, with its most important towns being Pińczów, Wiślica, and Nowy Korczyn. The Nida Valley is closely associated with the broader historical region of Ponidzie. Among its tourist attractions, the narrow-gauge railway "Ciuchcia Express Ponidzie" stands out, drawing both locals and visitors with its scenic views and opportunities to explore local culture. This region combines rich history with beautiful landscapes, making it an appealing destination for nature and culture enthusiasts.
