The Solina Commune, located in the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, in Lesko County, was established on February 1, 1977, in the Krosno Voivodeship, with its seat in Polańczyk, designated as such since December 30, 1999. The commune covers an area of 184.25 km², predominantly forested (54%) and agricultural land (22%). According to data from 2007, the commune was home to 5,105 people. Solina Commune was formed by merging units from other communes and has undergone various administrative changes over the years, including incorporation into Bieszczady County and the reactivated Lesko County in 2002.
