Strzyżów County, located in the western part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, was established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. Its seat is the town of Strzyżów, which is the only town in the county. The county includes urban-rural and rural municipalities, including Czudec, Frysztak, Niebylec, and Wiśniowa. The population of the county in 2020 was 61,295. Strzyżów County has a rich history; it has existed since 1896 when it was established in Galicia. As a result of the administrative reform in 1932, it was abolished, and its territory was allocated to Rzeszów and Krosno counties. The county was re-established on October 1, 1954, and underwent various administrative changes over the following years. After the abolition of gromadas and the restoration of municipalities in 1973, the county consisted of towns and municipalities, but in 1975 its territory was incorporated into the new Rzeszów Voivodeship. Architecturally, the region is characterized by development typical of Podkarpacie, including wooden and brick churches and historic buildings that reflect the local style. Culturally, Strzyżów County showcases its traditions through various festivals, events, and local customs that enrich community life. An interesting fact is that Strzyżów gained significance after the town and municipality were merged into a single urban-rural municipality in 1991. Several representatives from different political parties have served as starosts in Strzyżów County, reflecting the region's political diversity. Regular elections and the activity of local authorities influence the development of the region and the preservation of traditions, making Strzyżów County an important point on the map of Podkarpacie.
