Tarnobrzeg County, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform, is located in the northern part of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship. Its seat is the city of Tarnobrzeg, which holds city-county status and is not incorporated into the administrative structures of the county. According to data from the end of 2019, the county had a population of 52,956, and in 2020, this number was 52,871. The county is divided into urban-rural municipalities, such as Baranów Sandomierski and Nowa Dęba, and rural municipalities, namely Gorzyce and Grębów. It also includes towns like Baranów Sandomierski and Nowa Dęba. Among the tourist attractions of the region, the Baranów Sandomierski Castle stands out as a renowned architectural landmark with a rich history. Additionally, the county boasts natural attractions, such as the confluence of the Łęg and Trześniówka rivers with the Vistula, offering beautiful views and recreational opportunities. Over the past two decades, Tarnobrzeg County has had several district leaders, including Zbigniew Rękas and Mirosław Pluta; currently, the position is held by Jerzy Sudoł, and from 2024, Paweł Bartoszek is set to take over. It borders the city of Tarnobrzeg as well as the counties of Stalowa Wola, Kolbuszowa, Mielec, Staszów, and Sandomierz in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship. It is also worth mentioning that in 2014, demographic studies revealed a diversity in the age of the residents, which may influence local culture and social life. Tarnobrzeg County, with its charming towns, rich architectural heritage, and natural landscapes, is an interesting area for both tourists and residents.
