The Deanery of Działdowo is one of the 24 deaneries in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toruń, located in the Brodnica region and being the easternmost one. Its history dates back to March 25, 1992, when John Paul II reorganized the structures of the Catholic Church in Poland, establishing the new Diocese of Toruń with the Działdowo deanery, which previously belonged to the Diocese of Chełmno. On December 2, 2001, the deanery took its current form as a result of another reorganization carried out by the Bishop of Toruń, Andrzej Suski. In an architectural context, the deanery boasts a variety of religious buildings with rich histories and often interesting architecture, reflecting local traditions and cultures. The parishes within the deanery are important centers of religious and cultural life, and their activities often extend beyond the religious sphere by organizing various socio-cultural events. Neighboring deaneries, such as Grunwald or Kozłowo in the Archdiocese of Warmia, as well as Lidzbark Welski, Mława, Rybno Pomorskie, and Żuromin, form a network of communities that collaborate in many aspects, including the organization of church events and joint initiatives. Interestingly, due to its historical roots and traditions, the Działdowo Deanery plays a significant role in the life of local communities, serving as a place where various threads of history and the daily lives of residents intertwine.
