Deanery of Choszczno

The Choszczno Deanery, part of the Archdiocese of Szczecin-Kamień, was established in 1946. Initially, it consisted of 13 parishes, but by the mid-1980s, it had been reduced to 10. The largest parish is the Parish of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Choszczno, which has been managed by numerous parish priests since 1945, including the current pastor, Father Grzegorz Suchomski. It is worth noting that the deanery attracts both the faithful and tourists with its architectural diversity, featuring churches ranging from simple structures to more ornate buildings that reflect local traditions and the history of the region. The deanery plays a significant role in the cultural life of the community, organizing various events and celebrations that bring residents together. From a historical perspective, Choszczno is a place where one can observe the evolution of religious customs and sacred architecture in Poland, with influences from various eras. Interestingly, many of the parishes have subsidiary churches, which highlights the extensive pastoral work in the region.
