wikipedia
The Nowogardzka Plain (313.32) is a physiographic mesoregion in northwestern Poland, located in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship and forming part of the Szczecin Coastland. It is characterized by a landscape of glacial uplands dominated by glacial deposits, such as ground moraine. The terrain is rich in hills and moraine ridges, primarily drumlins and eskers, with several lakes in the central part of the region, including Lake Lechickie and Lake Nowogardzkie. Elevations typically reach around 90 meters above sea level, and the area is intersected by small rivers, such as the Gowienica and the Rega. The plain includes municipalities like Stargard and Nowogard, and the region features sites of cultural significance, including historic churches and the urban layouts of Nowogard and Maszewo. The soils are mainly podzolic and brown, which supports the cultivation of cereals, potatoes, and root vegetables. As part of nature conservation efforts, several reserves have been established within the Nowogardzka Plain, such as the Ozy Kiczarowskie and Wrzosowisko Sowno, highlighting the uniqueness of the local flora and fauna. The region offers favorable conditions for tourism, especially cycling and horseback riding, with an extensive network of bike trails and opportunities for kayaking on the Rega River. The proximity to historically rich cities adds to the variety of cultural and architectural attractions. Despite its agricultural character, the Nowogardzka Plain has much to offer both nature enthusiasts and those passionate about history and architecture, making it an interesting destination to explore.
