Nowosolski County is an administrative unit in western Poland, with its seat in Nowa Sól, established in 1999 as part of the administrative reform. The county is located in physiographic regions such as the Nowa Sól Basin, the Głogów Ice-Marginal Valley, the Dalków Hills, and the Zielona Góra Moraine along the Oder River. A notable historical fact is that on January 1, 2002, three municipalities were separated from its eastern part to form Wschowa County. Nowosolski County comprises urban, urban-rural, and rural municipalities, including Nowa Sól, Bytom Odrzański, and Kożuchów. In 2019, the county's population was 86,156, while in 2020, it decreased slightly to 86,014. The county boasts good transport accessibility, with railway lines connecting Zielona Góra and Wrocław, as well as the S3 expressway. It borders Żagań County, Zielona Góra County, Wolsztyn County, and the city of Zielona Góra, which has county rights. Interestingly, Nowa Sól, the county seat, was established in the 19th century as an important industrial center, largely due to its proximity to the Oder River. The county also has rich traditions, and its architecture blends historical elements with modernity, attracting both tourists and residents.
