The Sanok II Deanery, part of the Przemyśl Archdiocese, boasts a rich history dating back to 1594, when the original Sanok Deanery was established. In 1810, it encompassed numerous parishes, and its territorial boundaries evolved over the years. A significant restructuring occurred in 1971, when the deanery was divided into western and eastern sections, later renamed Sanok I and Sanok II. Currently, the dean is Fr. Piotr Buk, supported by a team of clergy dedicated to various pastoral areas, including family ministry, youth outreach, and sobriety support.
The deanery includes several parishes, each with its own unique history and architectural character. Among them are Niebieszczany, Poraż, Zagórz, and Sanok—with churches in the Olchowce and Posada districts—featuring diverse architectural styles ranging from Baroque to Neo-Gothic. Some of these churches are remarkable examples of regional sacred architecture, attracting both locals and tourists.
Religious orders also play a vital role in the deanery, including the Oblate Fathers and the Servant Sisters of the Immaculate Conception from Stara Wieś, who contribute significantly to the social and religious life of the community. Rich in tradition and cultural heritage, the region continues to uphold the religious and social values that form the foundation of its identity.
