The Janów Forests Landscape Park is an area of significant natural and historical value, located on the Biłgoraj Plain in the Lublin and Subcarpathian voivodeships. Established on October 3, 1984, it continues the legacy of the former Nad Branwią Landscape Park. The park covers an area of 401.22 km², with a buffer zone extending over 605.37 km². The dominant feature is forests, particularly natural pine and fir forests, which serve as important habitats for diverse wildlife and flora. Within the park, there are natural monuments and nature reserves, including the Janów Forests Reserve, covering 2,676 hectares, and peatland reserves such as Imielty Ług. In addition to its rich biodiversity, the area holds historical significance due to partisan activities during World War II. The forested region is also being considered as a potential site for the establishment of Janów National Park, highlighting the need to protect its unique ecosystems. The park plays a crucial role in nature conservation in Poland, featuring numerous ponds, marshes, and peatlands that complement its forested landscape. Thanks to its abundant fauna and flora, it attracts both tourists and ecologists alike.
