Powidz Landscape Park

Powidzki Landscape Park is a picturesque area located in the Greater Poland Voivodeship, established in 1998. It covers the territory of seven municipalities: Kleczew, Orchowo, Ostrowite, Powidz, Słupca, Wilczyn, and Witkowo, with a total area of 24,887.21 hectares. The park is part of the Greater Poland Lakeland and stands out for its diverse terrain, including numerous lakes, with the most beautiful being Lake Powidzkie. The park's core conservation values include unique flora and fauna, with many protected plant and animal species. The park is home to 196 species of birds, including rare species, and mammals such as otters and moose. Since the mid-1990s, an increase in the greylag goose population has been observed. The park's flora comprises 990 species of vascular plants, including many rare ones like marsh celery and stoneworts. Unfortunately, the park faces serious threats, including declining water levels in the lakes, habitat degradation, and intense tourist and recreational pressure. To protect its nature, various management measures have been implemented, including educational activities and tourist trails. Powidzki Landscape Park is an ideal destination for nature lovers and active recreation, offering an extensive network of hiking and cycling trails, as well as educational paths that allow visitors to explore the region's natural treasures. Important towns within the park, such as Powidz, Skorzęcin, and Orchowo, contribute to tourism development. Unique attractions, such as underwater stonewort meadows and rare species of fauna and flora, make the park an exceptional place of natural and cultural significance.
